Level I Education: Session #1
- Discuss goals and objectives; rules, expectations, rights and responsibilities.
- Locate fire exits.
- Take pre-test.
- Watch "Uppers, Downers, and All Arounders" and Chalk Talk.
- Discuss disease model and physiological effects.
- Watch "What Everyone Should Know About Crack and Cocaine."
- Discuss the effects of substance use on driving and decision making.
- Share DUI stories .
- Make commitment to generating alternatives to driving after drinking in the future.
Level I Education: Session #2
- Go over handouts on penalties of driving after drinking.
- Discuss costs.
- Discuss laws and SR22 and insurance.
- View "Elephant in the Living Room."
- Discuss co-dependency and family systems.
- Make art therapy collage which shows "How Substances Effect My Life."
- Review for post-test.
- Give two minute speech on "How I Will Avoid Driving After Drinking or Using in My
Future."
- Complete post-test and received DRS.
Level II Education: Session #1
1. Discuss goals and objectives; rules,
expectations, rights and responsibilities.
2. Locate fire exits.
3. Take pre-test.
4. Watch "Chalk Talk."
Level II Education: Session #2
1. View video "Uppers, Downers, and All
Arounders."
2. Discuss harmful effects of drugs and
alcohol on the body.
3. Introduction to disease concept.
Level II Education: Session #3
1. Continue discussion on disease concept.
2. Introduction to stages of change theory
and motivational carrot identification.
3. Discuss choices related to preventing
relapse.
4. Identify personal level of commitment to
preventing relapse.
Level II Education: Session #4
1. View videos: "Elephant in the Living
Room" and "The Cat Who Drank Too Much."
2. Discuss allegory and metaphor.
3. Design a collage.
4. Write a story to represent "My
Experience with Substances."
Level II Education: Session #5
1. Introduction to behavior patterns concept.
2. Discuss conscious vs non conscious
decision making.
3. Complete a PMI (Plus Minus Interesting)
and complete a CAF (Consider All Factors) on what to think about before making a decision
to drive after drinking or using in the future.
Level II Education: Session #6
1. Go over handouts on penalties of driving after
drinking.
2. Do personal inventory on what alcohol,
tobacco, and other drugs have cost in dollars and other losses throughout life time.
Level II Education: Session #7
1. Discuss laws, SR22's, and insurance.
2. Discuss personal resentments.
3. Discuss the "plus, minus, and
interesting" of DUI laws.
4. Introduction to abstract thinking concept and the
benefits of generating alternatives in the future.
Level II Education: Session #8
1. View "What Everyone Should Know About Crack
and Cocaine."
2. Discuss the effects of substance use on
driving and decision making.
3. Discuss and review physiological effects
including unsafe sex and AIDES.
4. Go over handout packet which includes
information on marijuana, stimulants, and the history of alcohol.
Level II Education: Session #9
1. Watch part of video.
2. Discuss family systems and
"roles."
3. Clients provide handouts to look at issues
related to co-dependency and unhealthy boundaries.
Level II Education: Session #10
1. Discuss MADD presentations and how driving after
using can result in death.
2. Review for post-test.
3. Discuss how therapy will be different from
education.
4. Clients present a two minute speech:
"What I Learned in Level II Education."
Level II Education: Session #11
1. Identify 4 parts of healthy balanced
life style.
2. Discuss physical health to include
social lesiure, mental/emotional health, economic health, and spiritual health.
3. Clients to create collage "My
healthy balanced life style."
4. (optional) Watch "Twice
Pardoned"
Level II Education: Session #12
1. Clients participate in metaphor
"What really matters."
2. Discuss thoughts and feelings.
