Saturday Alternatives A Lesson In Management of Emotions

This is a three week introductory course designed to enhance awareness of self and emotions, cognitive thinking skills, ability to demonstrate cause and effect thinking and begin the development of the essential resources necessary to positively manage emotions.

Each session will last from 3-4 hours and meet on Saturday evening. Total cost = $25.00.

Week #1

What is anger?

  1. Introduction to Anger Elevator.
  2. Cycles of anger/violence.
  3. What does anger do for me? Includes how anger effects by body.
  4. R.E.T. How changing thoughts change feelings.
  5. Introduction to thinking skills. PMI and CAF and C&S.
  6. Introduction to anger diary.
  7. Abstract thinking exercise.

    Week #2

    What do you mean people have patterns to their behavior?

  1. Introduction to patterns.
  2. Awareness (conscious vs non conscious).
  3. Moods and feelings.
  4. RET film on Anger.
  5. Process film.
  6. Art therapy-collage on "My Anger."
  7. Review anger diary.
  8. Pattern puzzles.

    Week #3

    What are coping and problem solving skills?

  1. Introduction to time out concept.
  2. Practice reframe skill.
  3. Introduction and practice assertive communication.
  4. Practice thinking skills (dilemma game).
  5. Review anger diary.
  6. Value Auction. What really matters?
